Tiered pricing


Tiered pricing is the ability to offer a discount based on the quantity of the purchase. The more someone is buying, the cheaper it is. This feature is important on many levels. The most basic advantage is that it encourages people to buy a higher quantity of the item they are interested in so they can receive a discount. But there are other benefits as well, showing the pricing options on the catalog page will help drive visitors to your product.


Tiered pricing can be turned into a sales pitch on your site. On the catalog page it can say “as low as” followed by the lowest tier price, helping to draw traffic to the product. On the product page, a discount calculation will appear such as “Buy 2 for $_ each and save _%” to promote the quantity discount and encourage purchasing.
 

Product alerts


Product alerts is the ability to notify your customers for price alerts and in stock alerts. The best population to market to is people who have already shown interest in your site, and price change alerts are extremely helpful for that. Someone might be browsing your site and really like your product, but just can’t afford it. A price alert email is a great way to get them back to your site. Similarly, you don’t want to miss out on a sale because your out of stock, and an in stock notification helps prevent that.
 
When you enable price change alerts. “Sign up for price alert” will appear on every product page, and customers will be able to click the link to sign up. Additionally guests will be prompted to open an account, further enabling you to retarget them. When the price changes or there is a special promotion, everyone who signed up will receive an email notification.

When you enable the in-stock alerts, every product that is out of stock will have a link called “Sign up to get notified when this product is back in stock”.  When a customer subscribes, they will receive an email notification when the product is back in stock.
 
Other Magento features that help boost sales include Compare Products which gives the customer the ability to quickly compare one products features with another. Product Reviews which helps build a community and are extremely credible, and Tags which lets customers organize and remember products they have seen as well as offer quick navigation and help search engines index your store.
