Microsoft Dynamics AX Compatibility with Windows 7

October 27th, 2009

Upgrading to Windows 7 won’t be a problem for Microsoft Dynamics AX customers. Dynamics AX 4.0 and AX 2009 are compatible with Windows 7, as well as with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2.  Even in the older versions of AX 4.0, Microsoft has made it possible for customers to move to Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 while leaving their often highly customized installations of Dynamics AX in place.  This means organizations won’t have to go through version upgrades of the application just to get onto the new operating system.  The new versions of Dynamics GP, GP 10.0, are already compatible with Windows 7; there are no plans to make Dynamics GP versions 9.0 or earlier compatible with the new operating system.

Strategies for CRM Solution Newcomers

October 22nd, 2009

Understanding Fundamental CRM Concepts- Learn and understand the jargon that comes with CRM. If vendors cannot explain their functionality in plain English, they do not understand their own product. Don’t buy it.

Visualize the appropriate CRM Solution for your organization – Have your organizations top executives to sit down with IT representatives and brainstorm the ultimate CRM Solution.

Learn about the benefits of CRM Integration-Learn about exactly what CRM integration should do for your company and evaluate whether or not you need it to solve your business problems

Set a realistic time frame for your goals and objectives – Once an organization understands what business problems can be solved by a CRM solution, they should communicate those problems to vendors and know what you can expect from the technology.

Create a way to measure CRM progress- Formulate a metrics that shows you are moving in the right direction.

Slow and Steady Wins the Race- Once a CRM solution is in place, introduce the system slowly in order to allow internal staff the time to digest the changes that a CRM system brings about.

Integrating Yahoo!

October 15th, 2009

Integrating Yahoo!

yahoo_logoGoogle Analytics is used by many ecommerce merchants to track their pay-per-click advertising campaigns. The essential pay-per-click statistics that can be tracked include revenue per keyword, number of conversions per keyword, average order size per keyword, bounce rates per keyword etc. However these statistics are only pay-per-click ads in Google.

Merchants who also use Yahoo! and Bing pay-per-click ads, Google Analytics, Yahoo! and Bing offer no seamless integration between the three. Conversely, the way to work around this problem is listed below.

Integrating Yahoo! PPC Ads into Google Analytics

Make sure you have “Tracking URLs” feature turned on in Yahoo!. Go to “Administration” tab “Tracking URLs” to enable it

  1. Make mass URL updates in your Yahoo! account to: a. Remove all keyword level URLs; leave only ad-level URLs; b. Append the appropriate keyword parameters.
  2. Done. Yahoo! will dynamically populate corresponding {OVKEY} parameters with the right values and Google Analytics should recognize and read them. Make a mass update in order to get the right parameters in place

Integrating Bing PPC Ads into Google Analytic

  1. Update all ads to have {param1} in place of the destination URL
  2. Make a mass update in order to get the right parameters in place

Google Analytics is a popular robust and free analytics package. Its built-in functions to track pay-per-click advertising activity maybe limited to tracking only pay-per-click ads in Google however with the explanations above, merchants who also use Yahoo! and Bing pay-per-click ads can track them in Google Analytics too. Additionally they can also track the relative pay-per-click performance of all three search engines.

Web Store Integration – Essential For Online Success

October 13th, 2009

Web Store Integration – Essential For Online Success

shoppingcartWith online shopping firmly entrenched as a standard method for consumers to purchase goods and services, a company’s Webstore is an essential component in achieving success and strong growth in Business-to-Consumer (B2C) and Business-to-Business (B2B) e-commerce environments.

In order to achieve the maximum potential of a Web Store, it is paramount that an organization integrates with their accounting system. This would result in taking advantage of two-way, real-time information flow between the two systems. Not integrating could result in the following drawbacks (AppFinity, 2009):

  1. Staff wastes a lot of time updating items, prices and on-hand quantities in your Web Store to match with your account systems inventory data.
  2. Staff must re-enter orders from your Web Store into your in-house accounting system.
  3. Customers can’t update their company information online such as billing, shipping address, phone and email
  4. Customers can’t track the shipping status of their order

Furthermore, with the eBridge Webstore Integration Solution, organizations would not have to worry about making any changes to their Web site. By streamlining the information flow in a business’s B2C and B2B e-commerce systems, the eBridge Webstore Integration Solution provides an essential component in a company’s strategy to achieve higher productivity.
