New Hayneedle Integration Connection Deployed on ePortal

December 30th, 2009

Hayneedle

On the week of December 14th, 2009, eBridge announced that they have created a new Hayneedle EDI connection. Hayneedle.com includes 220 stores and counting, each devoted to a single product category. Best of all, you can shop all of them with one global shopping cart. From hammocks at hammocks.com to dart boards at – you guessed it – dartboards.com, Hayneedle dives deeply into selection; each store showcases true variety. Unlike brick and mortar retail stores that are limited by shelf space, Hayneedle has virtually endless space. This allows our buyers to search the globe for the finest selection, best value, and unparalleled choices in products for your home, work, and play. Where you might see eight or nine styles of bar stools at a retail store, our bar stool site features over 900 styles. And the five or six patio furniture sets at the local garden store? Try 200 at patiofurnitureusa.com.

Top 5 Web Store Challenges

December 21st, 2009

shoppingcartToday’s web stores are challenged with critical problems. Many web stores have come and gone over the years due to a variety of challenges. Some common challenges that web store owners face when creating and maintaining an ecommerce website include:

1.  Search Engine Optimization (SEO) - A common challenge faced by many web store owners is that customers can’t find their web store. People just don’t stumble upon a web store they like.  For example, it isn’t good  for a web store to rank in the hundreds in Google search result. This is partly due to web store owners not understanding how web search engines work.  To rank high, you must add keywords to your web store.

2.  Not Addressing Customers Security Concerns

When a customer makes a purchase from a web store they want to know that their information is not being shared with others. Many web stores fail to recognize how hesitant some shoppers are to enter their information into unknown web stores.  Displaying some form of hacker security trust mark on a web store can neutralize some of the anxieties customers have towards online shopping.

3. Lack of Content

Not having enough content on a web store can hurt it ability to attract new customers. For example, search engines usually reward points to those web sites that are frequently linked to by other web sites. If a web store has little or no content, then others will not link to you. Another challenge web store owners have when dealing with content includes updating web store content. Long after a site’s launch, your website has accumulated a plethora of pages. Some Web store maintenance requires continuous reviews of static content that may require updates or corrections.

4.  Lack of Patience

Another challenge facing web store owner is losing patience in the web store. Many web store owners are not realistic enough in their goals and shouldn’t be thinking about becoming millionaires overnight. Running a successful web store takes time and patience.

5.  Lack of Web Store Integration- Web store owners are aware of the time and effort needed to enter order and customer data while at the same time keeping the Web store up-to-date with product and pricing information.  eBridge’s Webstore Integration can eliminate this administrative burden by eliminating manual data entry and accompanying errors, improving information flow, increasing efficiency, and achieving savings in time and money. What is AS2 EDI?

December 16th, 2009

Why AS2 instead of a VAN?
Many trading partners such as Walmart require that you transfer data via AS2 instead of using a traditional VAN. So what is AS2? AS2 (Applicability Statement 2) is a security protocols for sending data through https using certificates to secure data transfer. Basically, it’s a safe, secure way of sending your EDI over the internet. You may decide to use AS2 because your trading partner requires it. However, there are many benefits of sending EDI via AS2:

Traceable
When a document is sent across the VAN, each party can only see one half of the transaction – the sender can trace the document as far as the VAN and the recipient can pick it up once it has been received by the VAN. It’s similar to dropping a letter in a mailbox. You can’t trace the letter through every step involved in delivering it; All you know is that you dropped the letter in the mailbox and eventually it makes it to its destination. AS2 on the other hand allows you to request a return receipt called an MDN indicating that the document has been successfully delivered to the recipient. The MDN is received immediately upon receipt; the whole transaction is almost instantaneous.

Non-Repudiation
By signing a MDN receipt for the transactions, you have proof your documents were received, this fact cannot be disputed.

Confidentiality
AS2 encrypts your business documents and only the intended recipient of the document will be able to decrypt them. With AS2, the document itself is encrypted rather than just the transfer ensuring your important business documents are kept confidential.

AS2 is not restricted to EDI; many different types of documents can be via AS2. After a quick initial setup, every few years, new certificates need to be exchanged with your trading partners, it’s essentially hassle free. Furthermore, AS2 technology has been around for a while, so you know you’re investing in tried & tested technology. Overall, AS2 is a fast, safe and reliable way to transfer documents.

So, if you think AS2 is right for your business or have any questions, just give us a call at 1.800.755.6921

Cheers!

Important Integrations for Online Merchants/eCommerce

December 16th, 2009

Important Integrations for Online

Merchants/eCommerce

Third-party payment processing - Deferred-payment services services accounted for 14% of U.S. online sales in 2007, according to financial analysis firm Javelin Strategy and Research. This could be a result of deferred-payment services being processed without transaction fees or chargeback risks for merchants. In the 2008 Merchant Survey Report, deferred plans ranked as a “most valued” option by one-quarter of The E-Tailing Group’s merchants.

Shipping – Certified shipping providers include automatic rate calculators and, usually, shipping account registration wizards. This allows for customers in a set-up shopping cart to choose the shipping method and then rates are automatically calculated.

Analytics – This would include programs such as Google Analytics, ClickTracks and Omniture. For example,  an analytic tools such as AmeriCommerce, includes integration from Extreme Logging, a service that records every action from each and every visitor—from shopping cart content to visited pages—and provides in-depth search and aggregation capabilities.

Web Store Integration Solution- Web store owners are aware of the time and effort needed to enter order and customer data while at the same time keeping the Web store up-to-date with product and pricing information.  eBridge’s Webstore Integration can eliminate this administrative burden by eliminating manual data entry and accompanying errors, improving information flow, increasing efficiency, and achieving savings in time and money. Click here to see all 37 supported accounting systems/ERP packages that eBridge integrates with.

Security protections - Security protections is extremely important. For example, case studies of carts using the hacker safe logo show 14% more sales than carts without visible anti-hacking certification. Security certification is obtained through integrated hacker-protection programs, like McAfee Secure or Trust Guard. These hacker-protection programs remotely scan site pages for known vulnerabilities or threats daily.

Credit card processing - New cart integration features recently mandated by the credit card industry includes Security certifications such as PCI (Payment Card Industry Data Security) and Visa’s Cardholder Information Security Program. A variety of  shopping carts now offer plug-and-play merchant account arrangements as well. This application signs merchants up for their own merchant account then automatically transfers credit card payments through the selected merchant account, with no further set-up involved.
