Well… 10,000,000 documents processed through our ePortal - certainly an amazing milestone for our Integration Platform! From humble beginnings in 2008 (mainly processing EDI documents), our Platform has grown year over year to include the processing of eCommerce sales order & customer information as well as CRM (Salesforce.com, Dynamics CRM) data.
As you can imagine, we are very proud of this recent accomplishment and more importantly grateful to our customers for placing their critical business documents in our hands!
Congratulations Team and a big thank you to all of our Customers who use eBridge as their integration platform!

The eBridge Portal
The All-in-One Integration Solution
ePortal puts your business transactions at your fingertips by allowing you to transact with your trading partners and other business systems anywhere at anytime! The eBridge ePortal is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform that enables for the remote exchange and viewing of business documents with a web friendly interface. The ePortal supports a wide range of documents used in business operations, such as EDI, CRM, web store, SCM, logistics and warehouse management.
Impressive Statistics
The ePortal on average exchanges 11,000 documents daily, but on November 24th there was an astounding 39,840 documents exchanged (See Chart Below). The annual Thanksgiving pilgrimage to visit family and friends is under way which could explain the sudden increase in documents exchanged. The important fact to make note of is that these numbers prove that the eBridge ePortal is capable of handling our customers’ needs and much more.

How to Search for Documents on ePortal
Step 1. Log into your ePortal account.
Step 2. Click on the “Performance” Menu on the left hand side of your screen (it will be at the top of the column of buttons).
Step 3. You will see a list of mailboxes as well as a “Search” button along the left hand side. When you click on the “Search” button, the screen below will appear.
Step 4. Enter as much criteria as you can about your document. Details about the document that you can use include:
- The name of your Trading Partner
- The type of document you are searching for (either by EDI document number or by name of document)
- The document ID (this could be a Purchase Order Number, a Invoice Number, etc)
- A data range in which the document was received.
Each time you enter a piece of criteria, the page will automatically update.
Your document(s) should now be listed in the blue area below the criteria.
From this screen, you can do anything you could from a mailbox, with the exception of restoring a document from the archive. This must be done from the archive mailbox.

Hi,
I would like to say a couple of words about our main software as a service engine (ePortal) that we use to move business documents between your accounting package and business systems (CRM, EDI trading partner, Supply Chain Management, and e-Commerce) .
At eBridge we have a team of developers who are responsible for developing, maintaining and enhancing our integration software. Originally, we built our own transaction engine – one that handled various transaction sets. The result was an engine that needed to be tweaked by our programmers. Then the decision was made to move to Microsoft BizTalk server as our main transaction engine. The early stages of the project had its bumps with an immense # of hours dedicated to research and frustration. We realized the built-in EDI adapter was not sufficient to our needs.
Finally with the release of BizTalk 2006, our own EDI adapter and many other adapters such as Amazon, eBay, PayPal, Nexternal, and MS CRM we have very powerful engine that can process thousands of documents per day. Overall our integration tools and the leverage of Microsoft BizTalk has been right choice and saves us lots of time. And best of all, the entire system can be managed and monitor by almost anybody.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post – leave me a comment if you would like to discuss this topic further.

Why is XML integration so important? What value does XML integration provide to your company when selecting an EDI solution? These are all very important questions to consider when selecting or moving to an EDI partner.
As businesses increasingly use the Internet and software as a service solutions (SaaS) to exchange data with customers and trading partners, the value of XML as a desired format for data exchange has shown a host of benefits.
Organizations that have traditionally used EDI as the mode of communication for all of their B2B transactions now often find themselves required to submit or receive data in XML. Converting EDIFACT or X12 to XML can be an arduous, time-consuming, and costly process, often requiring external consultants or departments not familiar with EDI syntax to write transformation code. So making the correct choice upfront is critical to both short term and long term goals set by your organization. Here are just a few examples of the benefits of XML integration:
More benefits of XML Integration:
-
Easily communicate directly with your trading partners: Eliminate costly value added networks (VANs) who do not support XML integration;
-
Scalability to future demand/technologies: XML integration is very extendable, your company will continue to grow even as the ever changing technical world rapidly advances;
-
Easy integration with business systems: XML is becoming a more widely accepted format making for easier integration into other systems.
At eBridge, our ePortal software as a service solution uses flexible and soft-coded XML technology as well as support for numerous EDI formats (ANSI X12, EDIFACT, etc.), thereby resulting in an independent and flexible Integration Solution that effectively integrates with your financial system while meeting your company’s unique internal business processes. So you just finished your best month ever. You had 300 more orders come in from your trading partners than ever before. You are on top of the world. Then you receive the bill from your Value Added Network of choice and realize that there is a high price associated with being successful, VAN charges. They get you on kilo-characters, line items, transactions and interconnects to other value added networks. You continue to pay because without the VAN you can’t deal with your trading partners. Well, think again!
You can eliminate all those transaction fees, kilo-character charges a VAN will charge by moving your EDI documents to the ePortal Solution from eBRIDGE Software. The ePortal Solution from eBRIDGE Software allows you to send and receive unlimited documents to and from your trading partners without having to worry about what the bill will be next month. It gives you a place to store and archive your EDI documents and supports all the major EDI communication methods. Best of all, you can bundle the ePortal Solution with a tight integration into your ERP, removing the need for double entry and its associated costs and errors.
If you are fed up VAN fees and want to see what eBRIDGE can do to improve your business efficiencies, feel free to contact me at 905-635-3328 or jisaak@ebridgesoft.com.

Sales, The ePortal Web-based Transaction Engine
In today’s development environment it is sometimes difficult to keep up on changes which seem to be part of every day. Over the past couple of weeks we have updated the eBRIDGE Portal to include some very handy features.
We now include a time stamp for incoming files (dates are useful but many of our customers have several batches each day and can now distinguish between them). Clicking the “transaction time” heading will sort the transactions by date and time (clicking it again will resort in the opposite order).
We have also included processing capability for unknown files. We know which customers sent files when they come from a given site so we try to process the documents as far as we can. In this way, a document that has incorrect or missing data, will still show up in the Non-compliant outbox and the contents can be viewed so that any errors can be corrected. This has been a key requirement to allow people to see and manage their data even if it contains errors which is great for testing!
Not as easily visible as the above, one major change was completed at the end of August to the main processing engine for the portal. It has been completely rebuilt to process documents in a much faster and more consistence method using a new .NET component. The original .com model could sometimes take a large amount of time to process documents depending on the number and system loading. The new front end processes on 5 second intervals and is very independent of loading. Tests since the new system went live have shown transactions average well under 1 minute to traverse the portal.
As new changes and enhancements are released on the portal, I will provide updates here. Please feel free to comment (or to let me know if you have any areas of concern) and I will try to address them.
